Celebrating African Children’s Day at St. George’s School

St. George’s School proudly marked African Children’s Day with a vibrant and moving celebration, filled with performances that amplified the voices and rights of children.

The programme featured poignant poems on child welfare, a powerful drama and an engaging student-led news broadcast on the global status of children. The festivities were brought to life with traditional Ethiopian dances and a joyful cultural fashion show, showcasing the rich heritage and diversity of our nation.

We were honoured to welcome distinguished guests, including the Head of Gondar City Child and Women Affairs Office, a representative from the Education Department, and local Kebele officials. All commended the school for its unwavering commitment to the welfare and education of vulnerable children.

The event concluded with a heartfelt address from the Head of Gondar City Child and Women Affairs Office, who praised the school’s impact and vision:

“Today, I am deeply impressed by the quality of education and creativity nurtured here at St. George’s School. The performance reflects not only talent but also a deep awareness of children’s issues. This colourful celebration shows how SGS is shaping confident, informed, and responsible future citizens. We need more schools that prioritize both academic excellence and social responsibility. Thank you, SGS, for being a shining example of commitment to child development in our city.”
