A Message from Our Founder Patron:

Seeking a new Chair - NAEF

Back in 2011, my wife, Katharine, and I conceived the idea of building and running a school, closely modelled on the ones that at that time we ran in London, for deprived children in one of the world's poorest countries.

Today, with a little bit of help from our friends - well, rather a lot actually - that vision has been realised, and St George's is educating 600 children from the ages of 5-14, completely free of charge. And not just educating them to the highest western standards, but also feeding them and taking care of all of their pastoral & health needs.

We also support a further 200 children who have left St George's through the secondary stage of their education.

These children are the poorest of the poor, many of them orphans and double orphans, from families with incomes in the range of $2 to $5 a day. But just take a look at their faces - you would never guess that.

Northwood African Education Foundation (NAEF) is our UK charity that supports St Georges. Our current Chair Nick Wilcock retires in September, so we are looking for a new Chair to take over from him.

Leadership, strategic vision, up for a challenge, a wealth of experience, (maybe) some knowledge of the world of charity - these are some of the qualities we would hope to find in our new Chair.

But the single most important quality is a shared passion for education and our belief that it holds the answer to most of the world's problems.

NAEF is about to enter the next phase of existence - is there someone out there who will help us realise that?
