Every athlete displayed extraordinary discipline, commitment, and teamwork. From Samuel Ashenafi’s composed acceleration in the 400m to Tihitna Kidane’s powerful finish in the 200m, each medal was a reflection of months of dedicated preparation.

The entire athletics team was celebrated at a special school assembly, and plans are already underway to enhance our training facilities and increase opportunities for student athletes. Competing against 23 other schools and achieving this level of success has not only lifted school morale but also set a new standard for future competitions.

The SGS community is immensely proud of two of our standout athletes, Muluken Dagnew and Habtamu Getinet, who each claimed two medals in this year’s fiercely contested inter-school athletics competition, which included 24 schools from across Gondar Town.

Muluken Dagnew
stormed to gold in the 200m, outpacing a strong field with an explosive sprint finish. He then added a silver medal in the 400m, demonstrating his versatility across sprint and mid-distance events.

Habtamu Getinet
showed outstanding stamina and race strategy to take gold in the 1500m, finishing well ahead of his rivals. He also secured silver in the 200m, proving his ability to compete across both long and mid-distance races.

Both students have become role models at SGS, balancing their academic responsibilities with daily training. Their performances have inspired peers to take athletics seriously and strive for excellence. Their success has positioned them as strong contenders for selection in upcoming regional competitions at the end of this academic year.
